Full Moon Myth??

As a child, my mother always told me that on a full moon the maternity ward was full and someone was having a baby. As I grew older, I came to realize that there's ALWAYS someone giving birth.

When I took up doula work I was intrigued by the notion that there is a rise in spontaneous labors around the full moon cycle. I actually began seeing that come to pass when I started to attend births regularly. According to this article, there is a connection between the full moon and labor starting.

This evening, as I was running last minute errands, I'm nearly sure I saw the man in the moon winking at me. . .

Ask me now if I think labor linked to the full moon is a myth?

I THINK NOT!!!!!

It's beginning to look more and more like September 16, 2008 is a great day to have a baby!!!! Stay tuned in to hear of more developments!!!!
